Content exceeds maximum width: How to fix it
We show you potential root cause and how to fix those yourself.
When text in form fields is too wide, PDF generation can fail. This usually happens when certain formatting prevents content from wrapping properly.
Common Causes
-
Indentations / Tabs
Using tabs or multiple spaces for indentation can make lines unnecessarily wide.
-
Fixed Column Widths in Tables
Tables with fixed, narrow columns can cause content to overflow—especially if other columns are much wider.
-
Formatting from External Sources
Copy-pasting content from Word, Google Docs, or websites may include hidden styles that break wrapping.
Tip: Paste without formatting and rebuild tables directly in Playbook.
-
Very Long Words or Unbreakable Strings
Long technical terms, URLs, or unbroken text without spaces can stretch beyond the available width.
-
Images Inside Text Fields
Large or wide images may push text beyond limits.
-
Combination of Issues
Problems often occur when multiple factors overlap—for example: A fixed-width table has a very narrow column that contains indented text with extremely long words.
How to Fix It
-
Remove extra tabs or spaces.
-
Avoid fixed-width columns—let them auto-adjust.
-
Paste without formatting, then reapply styles in Playbook. Re-create tables from scratch in Playbook.
-
Break up long words with spaces or hyphens.
-
Resize or remove large images.
